Mission Statement

The Canadian Wood Truss Association is striving to lead its members to reach the highest standard of excellence amongst structural wood component manufacturers and distributors.

The association's mandate is to develop and maintain uniform performance standards, foster training and educational activities for its members and business partners, represent the industry with its peers and defend the industry's interests.

Daniel Després P.Eng. is a senior structural engineer at Léon Chouinard & Fils Cie Ltée, a roof truss manufacturer, in Eel River Crossing, N.B. In 1983, he started working at Léon Chouinard during the summers until his graduation in December 1986 from Université de Moncton with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Industrial Engineering. 
He is the founder and a former President of the Atlantic Wood Truss Fabricators Association (AWTFA). As a representative for this association, he has sat on Truss Plate Institute of Canada meetings, a governing body for the truss design procedures, and on Canadian Wood Truss Association meetings which he presided from 2008 to 2017.
A former volunteer firefighter for the town of Dalhousie and Charlo, he is the current Vice-President of the Chrome Eagles, a motorcycle and classic car association, which is a social and charitable organization since 2013.

Patti LeFrancois, Executive Secretary

Patti has extensive experience working with non-profit organizations, boards, and committees in a variety of consulting, training, administrative, and managerial roles.  Her experience in these areas enables her to professionally assist the CWTA in a variety of capacities, including managing schedules, coordinating events, drafting correspondence, keeping records, and doing industry related research.
